Biomechanics in Bowling

Bowling is one of the most complex movements for any coach or player to understand. There are so many factors that go into developing a technique that will produce results. The task is to utilise biomechanics, the study of the mechanics of human movement, in cricket to determine aspects in which changes in technique can be implemented to produce improved results for the bowler. This course looks at triple and double extension, force vectors and hip to shoulder separation to maximise the ground reaction forces transferred to the ball, through the exploitation of biomechanics. From this guide, drills have been assigned to enhance technique.

There are three main stages of the bowling action. These are back foot landing, delivery stride, and front foot landing. It is in these phases that the athlete is able to build and transfer the most energy into the ball. This course will look at the biomechanical principals involved in bowling and how to implement them to improve performance.
