The Handbook for Integrity in the News and those who report or comment on it

By Dennis AuBuchon

News organizations and individuals to some extent appear to have lost their journalism integrity if they ever had it.  The coverage of the news by much of the media has always involved an agenda and we have known this but the aggressive action we are seeing today is unprecedented in recent memory.

News organizations that report the news have a high responsibility to inform the public about events they cover but the coverage is both incomplete and inaccurate in many cases.  The public deserves to know all the facts not just what they want to present.  It appears to be an attempt to indoctrinate the public to their philosophy and political agenda but in this past election the public ignored what they were preaching.  The election results are clear evidence that this agenda has not worked as in years past.  The media and their coverage in many cases is losing credibility and they may never get it back.  In addition the Democratic Party has become one of obstruction rather than cooperation.

Reporting news to the general public is a high responsibility by any individual who is involved with such activity.  This includes not only the media but individuals who comment on news stories of the day.  I understand that not all events can be covered in any organization but it is the decision process on what to cover which is raising questions.  Coverage is given to some organizations or groups which deserve no coverage while others that deserve coverage do not get the time of day.  It appears that one activity is in agreement with their political agenda which they want to keep alive while another is contrary to their political agenda.  Activities which are contrary to their political agenda do not see the time of day or minor coverage.
