Counterfeit Purpose
No weapon formed against thee shall prosper..."(Isaiah 54:17) This is a verse that so many of us quote and have memorized, but I believe so many don't understand the nature of it. What is a weapon formed against us? How are they formed? A weapon is not necessarily a jealous neighbour or a conniving boss. These weapons, formed by the enemy, can be so deceptive that they fly under our radar undetected until they manifest (2 Corinthians 2:11)
Let us look at the weapon of counterfeit purpose.
A weapon formed, can be someone telling you since you were a child, that you're supposed to be an attorney. So imagine you are a ten-year-old boy or girl, and your teacher says to you that you are supposed to be a lawyer; as a matter of fact its not just the teacher but some family members and friends who agree with this declaration. They may say you remind them of a lawyer in your intelligence, your love of speaking, or maybe even the way you carry yourself.
Yes, a lawyer is considered a respected career in terms of wealth; however, if this is not the path God created for you to operate on, then you can see the enemy has already formed a weapon against you by planting a counterfeit vision of who you were created to be in your mind.
So this child becomes an adult and begins to fervently seek a career in the legal profession, even if a part of them dislikes the legal field, or the idea of practicing law, they are determined to become what everyone says they are destined to be. Many times, the enemy ensures that stumbling blocks are placed in this person's life to ensure they fail at this counterfeit purpose.
Now, at that moment, the weapon formed begins to prosper. If that person feels that they have failed at becoming what everyone says they should be, then they begin to define themselves as a failure. Depression kicks in, maybe suicidal thoughts and self-destructive behaviour associated with the feeling of failure.
Now just think, that weapon that was formed since that person was a child has now prospered as they are an adult. God wants us to be on guard.(2 Corinthians 2:11) We must be wise(Matthew 10:16) and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8) Ask Him for discernment, wisdom and revelation.(James 1:5, Jeremiah 33:3). Ask your Heavenly Father to guide your ambitions and goals so that they fall in line with the will he has for your life!
Heavenly FATHER, we humbly approach YOUR throne today. We want to first thank YOU for blessing us to see another day to fulfill the mission that YOU have created for us. FATHER, we first confess our sins to YOU and ask that YOU forgive us of all evil, iniquities, and transgressions. GOD remove any evil that is within us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) so that there is no partition between us.
FATHER, we now ask that you remove every ambition and goal that does not fall in line with the will YOU have for our lives. We desire to serve YOU wholly with our body, spirit, and soul, to walk in the will YOU have for our lives.
FATHER, reveal to us the purpose that YOU have created for us. We also seek knowledge, understanding, and wisdom as YOUR word states that we may ask these things of YOU (James 1:5)(Matthew 7:7). Remove every stumbling block that the enemy has put in the way that has taken us off of the path YOU have created for us and realign us on that path that we may fulfill our GOD-intended destiny. Help us to walk in alignment with YOU (Ephesians 5: 15-16) according to YOUR Living Word, which is YOUR Voice, in the matchless name of YOUR son JESUS CHRIST, AMEN.
