Breathe. Pause. Journal. Find God.

Have you noticed how social media feels these days?

Every time we open our phones, it’s like the world is shouting bad news at us. Wars. Violence. Corruption. Division.

No wonder our hearts feel heavy.

But here’s the thing: we always have a choice.

We can keep scrolling… or we can pause.

We can keep feeding on negativity… or we can nourish our souls with gratitude.

One of the most life-giving choices I’ve made is Catholic Creative Journaling.

Don’t get me wrong — it’s not about writing perfect prayers or filling a whole page every day. Honestly? Some days, all I manage to scribble is one line. Or simply stick in a logo napkin I saved from a restaurant where my family and I once dined together. But even that one line becomes a doorway for God’s peace to enter.

When I journal, I imagine God sitting beside me, smiling, whispering, “Tell Me about your day. I’m listening.”

And as I write, I realize:

That little blessing I almost missed? It was His gift.

That worry I was carrying? He wants to hold it.

That simple moment of joy? It was His hug for me.

But, let me be clear. Choosing gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring the problems of the world. We care. We pray. We act when we can. But instead of being drowned by the noise, we let God strengthen us first — so we can face those problems with a heart that is anchored in peace, not fear.

Beloved, the world will always have storms. But in your journal, you can find your boat of peace.

So here’s my invitation: put down your phone for a while. Take one deep breath. Whisper, “Lord, I’m here.” And then, write.

Write one blessing you noticed today.

Write one prayer that’s on your heart.

Write one hope you’re holding onto.

Do it again tomorrow. And the next day.

Soon, your journal won’t just be filled with ink — it will be filled with God’s faithfulness.

Choose gratitude over grumbling.

Choose prayer over panic.

Choose peace over noise.

And remember: in every page, God is writing with you.
