Catherine Jewell was born in Washington, DC. An Army brat, she lived in Japan after World War II and spoke Japanese before she learned to speak English. A career opera singer, she has performed with the Detroit Symphony, Detroit Opera Company, and Los Angeles Opera Company. When she retired from singing, she became an artisan jeweler and a GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certified gemologist. In 2015, Catherine had a stroke and became frustrated with the lack of information regarding exercises for stroke victims. As a result of that experience, she decided to write a book that would provide numerous exercises for stroke, arthritis, back injury, surgery and pain.
