Basic Techniques


Skill Level: Easy - intermediate

Abbreviations: USA Terms

1. Magic ring (mr)

2. Puffy treble crochet (ptc)

3. RND (rounds)

4. Chain(s) (ch)

5. Slip stitch (ss)

6. Fasten off (fo)

7. Puffy double crochet (pdc)

8. Double crochet (dc)

9. * () * Repeat stitches


Materials

1. 4 ply yarn (any color) You can use red velvet instead of yellow too for the flower center.

2. Crochet hook I’m using 2.25 mm. You can use any hook depending on the yarn you use.

3. Scissors

4. Yarn needle 


Instructions:


PART 1: THE MAKING OF THE FLOWER CENTER

  • RND 1: Using yellow or red velvet, start making a mr and ch 3. (ch 3 doesn't count

as a dc) Make 9 dc in the mr then close pulling the yarn tail. Ss in the first ch and fo.

Flower center made.


PART 2: JOINING THE FLOWER COLOR AND MAKING THE SEPALS

{*WORK THESE ROUNDS ONLY IN FRONT LOOPS*}


  • RND 1: *Using pink color join in the last stitch worked. Then ch 3 {and start by

making the pdc in that same space.} (ch 3 doesn't count as a stitch). *

  • RND 2: *Then pass a loop through every stitch. Then ch 3 and ss in the same

space.*

  • RND 3: Ss in the next 2 stitches and repeat again RND 1 in the text with {} so is a

total of 5 sepals. Then ss in the first sepal.


*Don’t fasten off*


PART 3: MAKING THE PETALS

{*WORK THIS ROUNDS in the loops back left*}


  • RND 1: Ss in the first back loop and then make the same process of the making

sepals. But at this time, it is a ch 4 and instead of pdc do a ptc. 


  • RND 2: Repeat *ROUND 1* until completing around, ss in the last stitch and fo. Remember to sew the yarn tail to the back.
