Materials
1. 4 ply yarn (any color) I’m using grey, and light yellow - orange yarn. Crochet hook I’m using 3.50 mm. You can use any hook depending of the yarn you use.
2. Scissors

5. Safety eyes 5-6 mm
6. Stuffing (polyfill
Instructions:
PART 1: BEGINNING OF THE HEAD, FACE AND BODY
• RND 1: Start doing a mr and 4sc on the mr, then close by pulling the tail. [4sc].
• RNDS 2-3: [If you have some trouble remembering the stitch count, don't forget to use the stitch marker] inc on each stitch [8sc] – [16sc].
• RNDS 4-6: Now work 3 rows of sc in each stitch (without increase or decrease).
• RND 7: In this round we are going to separate a space for the bird's beak.
sc, make ch 4, skip 4 stitches and then join by making one sc and one sc along the stitches, when you reach the last stitch, make an inc. To finish the round, you must have 6 sc, ch 4 (sc) skipped, 5 sc and the last inc.
• RND 8:16 sc [including the 4 ch] Then inc in the last stitch [18sc].
• RND 9: 17 sc and inc in the last stitch [19sc].
• RND 10: 18 sc and inc in the last stitch [20sc].
• RND 11: 19 sc and inc in the last stitch [21sc].
• RND12: 20 sc and inc in the last stitch [22sc].
• RND 13: 21sc and inc in the last stitch [23sc].
• RND 14: In this round, apply the 5 mm or 6 mm plastic safety eyes.
• RND 15: Fill the head and body with stuffing (polyfill), now in the following rounds they are decreasing rows [COMPLETED INCREASES TURNS].
• RND 16: 21 sc, make an inv dec in the last 2 stitches [22 sc].
• RND 17: 20 sc, make an inv dec in the last 2 stitches [21 sc].
• RND 18: inv dec, 17sc, inv dec [19sc].
• RND 19: inv dec, 15sc, inv dec [17sc].
• RND 20: inv dec, 13sc, inv dec [15sc].
• RND 21: inv dec in each stitch {8 inv dec} FINISH FILLING. * DO NOT OVERFILL, BECAUSE IT WILL CAUSE THE BIRD TO NOT STAND ON ITS OWN*.
• RND 22: Cut and sew the front threads and close by pulling the thread tail.
PART 2: TOP OF THE BEAK
• RND1: Join the color of the beak {LIGHT ORANGE} in the first stitch at the top. Start making 1 sc and in that same space, make 1 sc. In the following spaces, work 4sc [5sc]. Work back ch 1, then 5sc, 1 sc and work back. REPEAT ONE MORE TIME SO THAT YOU HAVE A TOTAL OF 4 ROUNDS OF 5 SC WORKED.
• RND 2: Flip the work and 5 dec (PICK 1 LOOP OF EACH STITCH TO MAKE A dec.
• RND 3: ch 1 , fo, LEAVE THE TAIL OF THE THREAD TO SEW THE BEAK INTO THE SHAPE.
PART 3: BOTTOM OF THE BEAK
• RND 1: Repeat round 1 from the top of the peak BUT ONLY WORK 2 ROUNDS OF 5 sc.
• RND 2: ch 1, dec, SKIP 1 stitch, 1sc, dec.
• RND 3: ch 1, dec, ch 1, fo.
PART 4: LEGS (MAKE 2)
• RND 1: Using the color of the beak, start to make a slip knot, ch 4, then ss in the last ch. Then, ch 5 and sc in the penultimate ch. Ss in the next 4 chains and ss in the last ch. Ch 1, fo. THE FEET HAVE TO BE SHAPED LIKE A "Y".
PART 5: HAIR (OPTIONAL)
1. RND 1: Using the body color, cut 3 threads of (7cm) OR USING YOUR SMALLER FINGER, CUT THESE THREADS AND MAKE THE LOOPS
If you need help, use a smaller or larger hook to pick up the loops: pretend you're doing the chain method. Now with a needle or velcro, brush the hair to make it fluffy. Cut the hair to the density you want!
PART 6: WINGS (MAKE 2)
• RND 1: Make a mr and 6 sc, close by pulling the tail of the thread. [6sc]
• RND 2: Increase in each stitch [12sc]
• RND 3: sc in the next stitch and ch 7. Then sc in the strings [6sc]. Then 1sc in mr.
• RND 4: ch 1, FLIP WORK, 5 sc.
• RND 5: ch 1, FLIP WORK, ss in the first 2 stitches, 3sc and 1sc in the mr.
• RND 6: ch 1, FLIP WORK, 4 sc.
• RND 7: ss in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc, then 1 sc in the mr.
• Row 8: ch 1, FLIP WORK, 3 sc, ch 1, FLIP WORK, 3 ss, 1 sc on the mr and work 8 sc around the mr. Fo and leave the tail of the thread to sew to the body.
PART 7: TAIL
• RND 1: Using body color or contrast color, start by making a slip knot and ch 5. Then 4sc, ch 4, 3 sc, ch 5, 4 sc, ch 1 *DO NOT CUT*, attach the piece to the body in sc. 3 sc and ch1, fo.
ASSEMBLY
SEWING THE BEAK:
Remember that the top should be longer than the bottom.
SEWING THE WINGS:
Place the wings 3 rounds down from the beak * REPEAT THIS STEP AGAIN FOR THE OTHER WING *.
SEWING THE LEGS:
Attach the legs with stitch markers to hold the legs so you can sew them easily.
