When the Inspiration Hits!

Isn’t it great when the inspiration strikes and you have the opportunity to start a new artwork at that exact moment? In my life, this opportunity rarely exists. But with this painting it happened for once.

I was asked to make a painting with my own weird style for a dining room of a family of four. They wished that the painting would have at least a cat and colors that match the interior of the room but otherwise I got to paint what I wanted.

A few days after this request, I suddenly got an idea what to paint while taking a shower. (By the way, why do you always get good ideas while you're in the shower? Does this happen to you too?)

Since I was on a holiday and there were no other plans for that day I decided to start painting right away. About 9 hours later I had this psychedelic space cat in front of me.

I call this painting “Do Epic Sh💩t!”

And yes, despite the fact that the painting is small (15 x 15cm) and I had a very clear idea what I wanted to paint, it still took about 9 hours to finish it (with very few breaks, maybe about an hour in total). When the inspiration strikes and I am not needed elsewhere, I may well immerse myself in this kind of work for several hours straight. Even though my concentration isn't the best, there's something so magical about painting that I can easily concentrate for almost any length of time.

In fact I usually concentrate so well I almost always forget to take any process pictures but this time I managed to take some.

Take a look at the pics to see how this cat developed from sketch to finished painting. 🦄✨😸
