Anyone who would want to know how this small business start?
Before I tell you the whole story, by the way, I'm Roezcha (Ro-wie-sha), the owner of Estesyonaryo. And honestly, I'm a fictional writer. Some also call me Sci. As in letter "C". It's not the Science thing. If ever you are familiar with these stickers below.
Which it has pen name below, Scion Marion. These are my own written poems. I wrote them are around 2018 to 2019. I really want to turn it into a book. But I change my mind and made it as stickers.
These stickers are the second batch for my sticker printing. Wonder what was the first one? It was a product label. Which was the logo design where also design by me.
I started making stickers for myself only at first. Since I'm into journaling. I really love writing and decorating stuffs. I had never thought of selling my stickers at first that time. But got inspired by another artist.
I start buying sticker papers. Before, I always went to a friend’s house, he started a printing business. He offered a fair price for print only. Because the printing shop near at our house where kind of expensive and had ugly outputs in colored.
Making stickers were too hard. It’s hard to calculate the outlines. What size I like. How many should I make for one design or collection. You could also see that I start designing stickers in literally hand drawn, the traditional way. Scan, edit, print and cut them with my own hands.
Later on, I decided to also make digital arts. I draw stickers in Ibis paint XP. The mobile app. I don’t have laptop that time. I also bought stylus pen for android phone. It was working. But sometimes it was delay. Patience is the key. But it was kind of easier. I also use camera phone scanner. Since scan here in my place is worth of 35 pesos back then. You can buy already a sticker sheet on that price.
So, what I do is draw in a paper. Scan it via phone. Then redraw again in Ibispaint xp. Then I’m going to a printing service to print it. Aside from stickers, I also make postcards before. And also stop. Since postcard are not in demand anymore.
In 2023, we decided to buy a printer. I decided to make more stickers. But when September came around, I had problem with my health that made me stop with production. Because I frequently go back and forth to the doctor and hospital.
The former name of my shop was Sci & Co. But I can’t use this name in DTI. Because Sci is registered trademark already. And they don’t allow names like Co., Studio and other generic names. So, I came up with Estesyonaryo.
Estesyonaryo doesn’t mean stationery. It's “stationary” Spanish term. Means not moving, fixed, unchanging. In Spanish this is estacionario. Then I made it into Filipino version in spelling, that’s why it became Estesyonaryo. It was also sounded like stationery. So, it was easy to remember.
But it means as a station for journaling hobbyist.
