What is the CareGivers Grief Commission

The CareGivers Grief Commission was born out of lived experience. Its a peer-led national initiative rooted in faith, legacy, and lived experience. A response to what happens when caregiving takes over your life, and nobody gives you a name for the weight you’re carrying. It’s a response to the silence that surrounds the emotional and spiritual toll of caregiving. The kind that starts before anyone dies. The kind nobody warns you about.

We’re building something that speaks to what caregiving actually feels like, for the people who are trying to hold it all together behind closed doors. This work is about naming what’s real and giving people tools that don’t just check a box, they actually help.

We’re doing that by creating space and language for what caregivers are carrying. That includes the CareGivers Grief ARC Model™ we teach, which outlines the grief journey from the very first yes to life after the goodbye. It includes the CareGiver’s Grief JourneyJournal, something I wish someone had handed to me when I was deep in the day-to-day of keeping my dad alive & the CareGivers Grief Arc Handboook- coming soon. It includes our newsletter, audio reflections from Grief road, and our community space called the CareCollective @GriefRoad, where caregivers can show up as they are and not feel like they have to explain or defend their pain.

The Commission isn’t just my story anymore. It’s all of us who have had to navigate caregiving without a map, without support, and without language. We are here to make sure the one providing the support is seen, equipped, and reminded they’re not crazy for feeling like they’re drowning in something deeper than exhaustion.

This is about healing, for real. And making sure the next person in that position doesn’t have to wonder if anyone out there understands what they’re going through.

If you’re walking this road, or know someone who is, take a moment to explore what we’ve built. You can read the journal, join the newsletter, or just pass the resource along to someone who might need it.

Every caregiver deserves to feel supported, not just responsible.
