In the ever-evolving world of AI, it’s easy to get swept up in app drops and shiny new tools. But after a full year of trial, error, and intentional use, here’s what I’ve learned:
Sign up early.
When a new AI platform hits the scene, always join during its introductory phase. Chances are, you’ll lock in better terms, pricing, and usage limits before they scale up. Grandfathered access? That’s gold.
Use your free credits—strategically.
Most platforms offer trial credits. Use them with intention. Create what you can, explore the outputs, and ask yourself: Does this fit my creative process long term?
Budget by the quarter.
Forget chasing every shiny new thing. Instead, weigh tools by monthly, quarterly, or annual costs. Often, a yearly plan gives you more value—if you’re using the tool regularly.
My Core AI Stack (as of right now)
These are the platforms I’ve committed to on an annual basis because they align with how I create and the results I want:
- CapCut Pro – for editing and packaging my content
- ChatGPT Pro (monthly) – for writing, scripting, ideation, and multi-modal creative support
- ElevenLabs – for voiceover and audio storytelling
- Immersity.AI – for layered cinematic zooms and visual impact
- Kling AI – for image motion and creative animation
- MidJourney – for ultra-stylized image generation
- NightCafe – for variety and experimentation across styles
- Suno – for original music composition
Everything else? I evaluate monthly. I might subscribe to a platform for $10–$40 to test it on a specific project, but if it doesn’t serve my workflow long term—or fit my budget—it gets rotated out.
Smart Stack: Budget-Conscious, Creativity-First
Working with a lean budget doesn’t mean compromising your creative fire.
Here’s a toolset that delivers serious results without draining your wallet:
- Canva (Free Plan)
Design thumbnails, social posts, product mockups—and even edit short- or long-form video (with some limitations)—using clean, intuitive tools.
- CapCut (Free Account)
A strong starter for video creation and editing, especially for TikToks, Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Includes basic transitions, effects, and templates—with optional cloud sync.
- ChatGPT Plus ($20/month)
Still the best investment for creators. Comes with GPT-4o and access to tools like Sora for cutting-edge content.
- Suno (Basic Plan)
Experiment with original AI music. Use the free version while you explore—upgrade only when you’re ready to monetize.
👉 Try Suno
- ElevenLabs (Starter – $5/month)
Perfect for high-quality voiceovers on a small budget.
💡 Pro Tip:
Always compare monthly, quarterly, and yearly pricing. Don’t upgrade just because you can—upgrade when your workflow demands it.
Final Thought: Budget with vision, not fear.
I don’t believe in staying stuck just because a tool feels familiar. I move forward when I outgrow a platform—and I treat every new subscription as a business decision, not a dopamine hit.
So if you’re just starting, build slowly. Pay attention to what fuels your creativity. Then scale when the time (and budget) is right.
