When you see someone from afar, it is easy to form opinions about their personality. Some of those assumptions may be correct, but many times, they are far from the truth.

You may imagine how proud they are, how unfriendly they seem, or even conclude that they have no love to share. From a distance, appearances often speak louder than reality.

But the moment you move closer to such a person, you may end up feeling sorry for your “wild” imagination. Sometimes, you become so surprised that you say things like...

“I never knew you could be this loving and caring.”

“Wow, that man is so humble; I always thought he was proud like a peacock!”

Can you relate to this?

The same thing applies to our relationship with God.

Yes, God is GREAT and MIGHTY. He is to be feared, honoured, and reverenced. We owe Him our worship and total obedience. And yes, He detests sin.

But beyond all of that, do you know that God is also incredibly loving, friendly, and approachable?

He listens to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE — including you. Yes, YOU.

You can talk to Him about anything because He wants you to feel completely at home with Him. There is nothing hidden before Him anyway, so why struggle to hide behind a mask?

You are free to tell Him anything, anywhere — even while using the restroom. #smiles

You do not have to climb a mountain before you can get His attention. He hears the whispers of your thoughts and understands the silent cries of your heart.

That is the beauty of intimacy with God.

Many people already know God at the Master-and-Servant level, and that is wonderful. But there is a deeper level available — a relationship where you walk with Him daily, speak with Him freely, laugh with Him, cry before Him, and trust Him completely.

God does not only want followers; He desires friends.

Just like Abraham was called the friend of God, you too can enjoy a relationship with Him that goes beyond routine religion and enters genuine companionship.

So yes, revere Him. Honour Him. Obey Him.

But also draw close enough to discover His heart.

You may just find out that the God you feared from afar is the very Friend your soul has always longed for.
