๐Ÿ’ฏHow To Use Vocal Presets by Goldinum Beats

Steps to get the best quality vocals using presets by goldinum Beats

Step 1. (Detect Tempo of beat)

If you record in to your beat project, you are good to go, but if you record on a exported beat in to a new project, make sure the tempo(BPM) of your beat correspond with the tempo(BPM) of the project for effects like delay to be in sync.

Step 2. (Vocal Editing)

Editing vocals is one of the most important parts of the production process.

Step 3. (Input Gain)

For the presets to work at its best, its very important to make sure the input signal of your vocal peak between -12db and -9db

(This the gain levels I always use when mixing vocals).

If the signal comes in too low, it might not trigger the compressors, too hot, and the signal might go too far pass the threshold, which will make your vocal sound over compressed and awful.

[Set the input gain using the channel volume on your channel rack or set the levels using the gain volume on your audio interface]

NOTE!!!

(ALWAYS USE A INPUT GAIN PEAKING BETWEEN -12db AND -9db)

[Usb Microphones]

If you use a usb microphone, it would be best to insert a gain plugin in to your recording track to either boost or reduce the gain level of your input signal if you dont have a gain/volume control on your mic for a healthy signal flow and to prevent clipping.

Step 4. (Pitch Correction Plugins)

Make sure you know the key of your beat, and set the key of your pitch correction plugin in the same key as your beat for your vocals to be in tune.

Step 5. (Noise Gates on my vocal chains)

Just thought I should mention this as well.

The purpose of noise gates in my chains is to remove background or unwanted noise from a vocal recording.

What's a noise gate?

A noise gate is an audio processor that works to eliminate sounds below a given threshold in a recording.

If the threshold is set too low, it might allow some signal to pass through, so make sure you listen to the whole vocal recording just to make sure there's no signal passing the threshold for a cleaner sounding vocal.

If there's signal passing the threshold on the gate, just turn up the threshold for the signal to fall below the threshold, but be cautious, threshold that is set too high might mute some parts of the vocal.

Step. 6 (Vocal Chain Check)

a Great way to check your vocal chain, is to deactivate all effect slots and activate them one by one, to hear what each process does to your vocal, that way you can adjust the settings to taste if needed.
