What does repentance and forgiveness look like?

Forgiveness is meant to be letting go of hurt to lighten a load. Forgiveness is for our sake and not for the other person's sake. We forgive so that we can move on and no longer harbor hurt feelings. Even Yahuah forgives for his own sake:

Isaiah 43:25 ( Yeshayahu = Isaiah in Hebrew)

I, even I, am he that blots out your transgressions for my own sake and will not remember your sins. Yeshayahu 43:25 את CEPHER

So, while it is true that forgiveness is for Yahuah's sake that does not mean he doesn't require a change from those he is forgiving.

There have been countless times when the people of Yashar'el have done wrong by The Most High. They served other gods rather than keep Yahuah's commandments. Instead of working righteousness (those apart from the remnant) did wickedness continually. Now, Yahuah did not have to forgive them, but he chose to for his own sake. However, with that forgiveness, he required that the people turn away from their sins and turn back to him.

2 Chronicles 7: 14 If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek, my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and heal their land. את CEPHER

The Hebrew word to turn is shub שׁוּב which "means to turn or return."

To turn away also requires repentance. When I think about this I remember a song on Youtube from the Channel The oil of Joy music. The song is based off of 2 Chronicles 7: 14, within the song she uses the word Teshuvah which also means to return and repent which is a major step in the forgiveness process. Turning from ones sins requires the turning away of wickdenss, repenting and turning towards Yahuah (by doing what is right in his sight). If we want to be forgiven we have a part to play, its not just simply saying I am sorry, it requires actionable change from the individual. Just as we require others to change so that we can move forward Yahuah requires the same from us.
