Yule: An End of an Era and a Beginning

Yule marks the end of an era and the beginning of something new. The reason I say this is because, when you think about everything we’ve gone through in 2024—including all the spiritual portals we’ve encountered—you’ll see that many of us, if not all, went through major transformations.

This year forced us to confront our shadows and face the darkness within. We had to ask ourselves: What bothers us? What triggers us? What truly matters in our lives? Most importantly, what will we accept or refuse when it comes to friends, family, and acquaintances? I feel honored that we’ve made it through this year, even if some situations still feel unresolved. Believe me when I say, they will improve if you have faith. As a spiritual alchemist, I’ve always believed in manifestation. You can change your life by changing your mindset. Like many of you, I’ve experienced loss, financial struggles, and even jealousy and hatred—sometimes from the very spiritual community I cherish. But that hasn’t stopped me from helping those who truly appreciate me and my work.

A couple of years back (2022), I created a Yule jar video:

How to Make a Yule Jar

A Yule jar is a simple and meaningful way to set your intentions for the year ahead. It serves as a physical reminder of your manifestations, filled with symbols of abundance, protection, and gratitude. Here’s how to create your own:

A Yule jar is a simple and meaningful way to set your intentions for the year ahead. It serves as a physical reminder of your manifestations, filled with symbols of abundance, protection, and gratitude. Here’s how to create your own:

What You’ll Need:

  • A small glass jar with a lid
  • Dried herbs (such as cinnamon, rosemary, or bay leaves for protection and prosperity)
  • Crystals (like citrine for abundance, clear quartz for clarity, or obsidian for protection)
  • A small piece of paper and pen
  • Red, green, or gold ribbon or twine (for decoration and symbolism)
  • Optional: small charms, coins, or other items that represent your intentions

Steps:

  1. Cleanse Your Materials: Before starting, cleanse your jar and materials with sage, incense, or Florida water to clear away any lingering energy.
  2. Set Your Intentions: Sit quietly and think about what you want to manifest in the coming year. Write these intentions on a small piece of paper. Be specific and positive, focusing on what you want to bring into your life.
  3. Layer the Ingredients: Begin filling the jar with your dried herbs. Each herb symbolizes something different—cinnamon for success, rosemary for protection, and bay leaves for wishes. As you add each ingredient, focus on your intentions and imagine them coming to life.
  4. Add Crystals and Charms: Place your chosen crystals and charms in the jar. These items amplify your intentions and add personal meaning to your Yule jar.
  5. Seal the Jar: Fold your paper with intentions written on it and place it in the jar. Close the lid tightly. As you seal the jar, visualize it holding your desires safely, like a little container of magic.
  6. Decorate and Empower: Tie a red, green, or gold ribbon around the jar to symbolize the season and your intentions. You can also decorate it with symbols, such as runes, sigils, or stickers that resonate with you
  7. Activate Your Jar: Hold the jar in your hands and say a blessing, such as:

“This jar holds my hopes, dreams, and light.

May it guide me through the darkest night.

With love, protection, and purest cheer,

May these blessings last through the year.”

Place the Jar: Keep your Yule jar on your altar, a shelf, or somewhere you’ll see it often. Let it remind you of your intentions and the magic you’ve set in motion. I plan to share a new one this year (2024). This one will feel more personal, even though I’m sharing it with the world. A Yule jar can last up to a whole year, but if you have negative influences in your life, they can weaken your spell work. To protect what you’ve manifested, it’s a good idea to include protection rituals after creating your Yule jar. This way, any negativity or jealousy from others won’t block your intentions:

A Simple Protection Ritual for Yule

As we focus on manifesting our intentions during Yule, it’s important to protect our energy and the magic we create. Negativity, jealousy, or even our own doubts can block what we’re trying to bring into our lives. That’s why pairing your Yule work with a protection ritual can be so powerful. Here’s a simple and effective ritual to try:

What You’ll Need:

  • A black candle (for protection)
  • A white candle (for purity and clarity)
  • Salt (sea salt or Himalayan salt works best)
  • A small bowl of water
  • Rosemary or sage for cleansing (optional)
  • A protective charm or amulet (optional)

Steps:

  1. Cleanse Your Space: Begin by cleansing your space with rosemary or sage. Visualize the smoke clearing away all negativity and creating a safe, sacred space.
  2. Set Your Intentions: Sit quietly for a moment, holding the black and white candles. Reflect on what you want to protect—your energy, your relationships, or even the Yule jar you’ve created.
  3. Create a Circle of Protection: Sprinkle salt in a small circle around you or your altar, imagining it as a barrier of light that keeps negativity out.
  4. Light the Candles: Light the black candle first, saying:

“I call on protection, strong and sure.

Shield my energy, keep it pure.”

Then light the white candle, saying:

“I call on clarity, light, and peace.

May this protection never cease.”

Seal Your Intentions: Dip your fingers into the bowl of water and anoint your forehead, hands, or protective charm with it, saying:

“As this water flows, so does my strength grow.

I am shielded, I am safe, I am whole.”

Close the Ritual: Thank any energies or deities you called upon, then safely extinguish the candles. Carry the charm with you or place it near your Yule jar to keep the protection strong

.

This ritual is a beautiful way to ensure your Yule magic remains undisturbed, allowing your intentions to grow and flourish throughout the year.

Yule marks the end of an era and the beginning of something new. The reason I say this is because, when you think about everything we’ve gone through in 2024—including all the spiritual portals we’ve encountered—you’ll see that many of us, if not all, went through major transformations.

The Wheel of the Year and Yule

The Wheel of the Year is an essential guide for many on their spiritual path, and I personally use it as a road map for my life. It represents the cycle of the seasons, the turning of time, and the connection between nature and our inner world. Each sabbat on the Wheel reflects a phase of growth, rest, or transformation, guiding us to live in harmony with the rhythms of the Earth. As the Wheel turns, it reminds us to pause and reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed. For me, it offers direction and clarity, helping me stay grounded and intentional throughout the year. Whether it’s planting new seeds during Imbolc, celebrating abundance during Lammas, or honoring endings and new beginnings during Samhain, the Wheel teaches us how to embrace change and balance. Yule, one of the eight sabbats, is a particularly powerful time on the Wheel. It marks the Winter Solstice—the longest night and shortest day of the year. Yule represents the rebirth of the sun and the light slowly returning to the world. It’s a time of hope, renewal, and reflection, inviting us to embrace the darkness while preparing for brighter days ahead.

How to Make a Yule Simmer Pot

A Yule simmer pot is a delightful way to celebrate the season while infusing your home with magical energy. By combining seasonal ingredients with intention, you can create a warm, inviting atmosphere and align yourself with the energies of Yule.

What You’ll Need:

  • A medium-sized pot
  • Water (enough to fill your pot halfway)
  • Orange or apple slices (for joy, abundance, and gratitude)
  • Cinnamon sticks (for warmth, success, and spiritual protection)
  • Pine sprigs or rosemary (for cleansing and renewal)
  • Cloves (for protection and banishing negativity)
  • Cranberries (for love and good luck)
  • Star anise (for manifestation and magic)
  • Optional: A sprinkle of nutmeg or vanilla extract for sweetness and harmony

Steps:

  1. Cleanse Your Space: Before starting, cleanse your kitchen or workspace with sage, rosemary, or your preferred cleansing method to remove negative energy.
  2. Set Your Intentions: Gather your ingredients and think about what you want to invite into your life during Yule—peace, love, prosperity, or protection.
  3. Prepare the Simmer Pot: Fill your pot halfway with water, then add the ingredients one by one. As you place each item in the pot, say its intention out loud. For example:
  • “I add oranges for joy and abundance.”
  • “I add cloves for protection and strength.”
  1. Simmer with Intention: Place the pot on the stove over low heat and let it gently simmer. As the steam rises, imagine it spreading your intentions throughout your home. Visualize your space being filled with warmth, positivity, and Yule magic.
  2. Refresh as Needed: Add more water throughout the day to keep the pot simmering. You can also stir the pot occasionally while repeating your intentions.
  3. Dispose of the Ingredients: When you’re done, allow the ingredients to cool and return them to nature by composting, burying them, or discarding them respectfully. Thank them for their energy and contribution.

Tips for Customizing Your Simmer Pot:

  • Add bay leaves for wishes and prosperity.
  • Sprinkle a bit of salt for protection and purification.
  • Include essential oils (like pine or orange) for a stronger scent.
  • Write your wishes or intentions on a small piece of paper, fold it, and place it in the pot (just ensure it doesn’t burn).

Conclusion

As we celebrate Yule and embrace the turning of the Wheel of the Year, it’s a time to reflect on our growth, honor the cycles of life, and set intentions for the future. Whether you create a Yule jar, simmer pot, or perform a protection ritual, these practices help us connect with the season’s magic and bring warmth and light into our lives. Yule reminds us that even in the darkest times, there is always hope and renewal. The energy we put into these rituals empowers us to face challenges, manifest abundance, and protect our spiritual path. As we welcome the return of the sun, may this season fill your heart with joy, gratitude, and love. Remember, your spiritual journey is personal and unique. Take these ideas and adapt them to make your own traditions meaningful and special. Blessed Yule, and may the magic of this season guide you into a bright and abundant new year.
