If we don’t choose better, the future yet to be born

 will choose better than us and wonder why we didn’t

I wasn’t sure what to write about this week. With so much going on in the world, I don’t know why that would be a problem. But it is – this week.

My mind seemed to focus on Africa and news about this or news about that. News such as the future of the continent and what will be its role in helping to reshape the world. But, I held back, saving that for another day. We got to save the world first.

So, I thought about the rest of the world and what we can do to build a better future, a future filled with peace and harmony and great quality of life. Then, I decided that too could wait, as nations continue to hit each other over the heads with bombs on the road to oblivion.

And, of course, that made my mind race to the impending doom of what seems to be coming. No matter what some are doing to avoid the dreaded future of World War III, all the signs of impending doom are in plain sight.

“What doom?” some may ask. You know, that Third World War doom. And the world, after the bombs do what bombs do, kill a few soldiers but mostly the innocent – the mothers, the old, the young and the unborn.

No matter what I thought to write about this week, it all seemed to boil down to the future of humanity and the generations yet to be born.

I wonder…is there anybody alive or yet to be born who would have the wish and the power to right wrongs, end all wars and say something, do something, be something to inspire humanity to choose love over hate, peace over war, life over death?

I wonder…maybe we will become the past that future people on a future earth will look back at and say “they” (meaning us) knew what would happen if we didn’t choose right over wrong, better over worse, life over death.

But, we didn’t, they’ll say. And because we didn’t, they must begin again to rebuild a better world and they will choose better than us.
