Jason Blacker

Jason Blacker was born and raised in the heat of the African sun. South Africa to be precise, a country complex, beautiful and scarred. He calls Canada his home now where he lives with his son and wife and four cats none of whom are called Pirate. Although the winters are harsh the Canadian temperament is kind, hard working and empathetic. He writes both mystery fiction and literary fiction under the same name. As far as literary fiction goes, he gives a nod and a wink to the poets: Charles Bukowski, Dylan Thomas and Walt Whitman to name but just a few. Writers he admires and who have inspired him include Fitzgerald, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, JM Coetzee, Steinbeck and Hemingway amongst others. His mystery fiction owes debt to the greats in the hard boiled genre of Hammett, Chandler and Spillane. He has a soft spot for the mystery genre in general and particularly enjoys Parker and Grafton. Anthony Carrick was named in honor of his father and his heritage. Anthony and Carrick, County Donegal in Ireland, where legend has it, several hundred years ago the Blacker Kings of Ireland ruled benignly... a fun story whatever its basis in fact or fiction. Jason Blacker enjoys writing poetry and he has a daily haiku blog where a newly minted haiku is offered up each day. You can find it at http://haiqueue.com When not writing he enjoys playing squash, running and painting and like the protagonist in his mystery novels, Jason spent a couple of years at the Alberta College of Art. He also likes candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach ;) Jason loves to hear from his readers and fellow writers. You can contact him and keep up with his writing and publishing at his website http://jasonblacker.com
