The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. [John 1:29]
Because the world knew not righteousness and only relayed on the observation of the Law (ritualism and human practices) which only make known the sin of man, through the Lord Jesus Christ the Law was fulfilled with absolute perfection in that God made His Son a pure sacrifice to take away the sin of the world, that through him the world may know righteousness.
It is because of the Lord Jesus Christ that we now know righteousness through his life and sacrifice. You cannot rely on the Law for salvation because in the Law (ritualism and human practices) you do not clothe yourself with righteousness which can only be found in Christ Jesus.
Jesus Christ became a sacrifice for the sin of the world that in fulfilling the Law we may live in him because of the righteousness only found in him by faith, grace, and love from our Father in Heaven who made him to have life also in himself.
He fulfilled the Law so that we may not remain in the bondage of sin but live in eternal freedom found in the righteousness God revealed to us through him and the righteousness that is found only in him.
It is because of the Lord Jesus Christ that we have been put right with God. For without Jesus Christ we remain in our sins for we know not righteousness which is only revealed and found in him.
I believe John ( who came in the Spirit of Elijah) understood this revelations that he testified of him and said "â€Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world".
