It's OK to Have a Flaw; Just Own It!

Hey friends –

I learned something new today, and it makes total sense! It’s based off of a 1966 study by Harvard psychologist Elliot Aronson. He discovered that people found a quiz show contestant more likeable after he spilled coffee on himself.

Do you see the connection to online marketing? People have grown accustomed to airbrushed perfection (and now AI-generated fake images) that consumer trust is at all time lows.

What does this mean for you and your brand? Acknowledging your flaws and imperfections now stands out as refreshingly honest. A hint of humility in your post makes your other claims more  credible.  Poking fun at your flaws is disarming for your followers.

Give it a try. Be real. Be genuine. Your posts don’t have to, and maybe shouldn’t be, perfect.

Cheering you on –

Lauren
