New York Girl moves to the South and her woes...

Let me tell you the back story.  I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. However, maybe around 11 or 12 years old I started voicing to my mom that I could not have been born in Syracuse. She had to have had me in Florida and then moved me to New York against my will. LOL The reason for this is I dislike the cold. Like yes, I played outside in the winter here and there but cold weather was not my cup of tea. I started telling people that one day I will move back to Florida because on TV Florida was the sunniest place I had ever seen. We fast forward to after my I graduated, I happen to meet a guy who was from Florida and yes a year or so later I moved to Florida. This move made my whole family laugh as I have been manifesting this move since I was a little girl. Therefore, when it happen it was a dream come true. At this point in the story you would say, well what are the woes? You moved to where you dreamed to live. Well let’s get to the good part. LOL

The thing no one never told me and I never did the research prior. Please do your research before you make moves in anything you do, it would make your life a little easier. LOL Okay, back to the story, I came down and finally settled in and this is when the real Florida showed up. I was first introduced to this things called Palmetto bugs – they are huge cockroaches to me. Well these things don’t seem to bother Floridians but I was not having it. Then it was the language barrier at times, not that I didn’t speak English but I pronounced words differently and Floridians has their own language as well. I say sneakers they say tennis shoes to give an example. My next encounter was with lizards, they look like baby Iguanas to me and they’re every where and I had to learn to live with them.  Oh let’s not leave out the random snakes that show up at your door, the frogs who take over your favorite swing in the back yard. LOL  The animals in Florida are just as different as the people in Florida. I have never witness seeing a black bear in my backyard but I sure witness one in someone else’s as I drove by. Let’s not even mention the gators.

As you see all this is not anything a New York Girl like me is use to dealing with at all. Also, those little creatures scare me at times.  Oh let’s not forget about the geese who loves to come visit me whenever I open my garage. LOL But with these woes I still know I made the best move for my life and my kids. I love the warm sunny days, I don’t care that we have Summer like weather all year round for the most part. I love sitting in my backyard soaking up the rays, I love the fact I can go to the beach anytime I want because one is about 20 minutes away. Most of the people are nice and friendly. Therefore, the good out weights my woes any day.  I share this to say, don’t allow a little obstacles to stand in the way of your happiness. I always dreamed of coming to Florida and once I got here I was met with a few challenges and some of the challenges shook the table for me but never enough to send me packing. Challenges are meant to keep you focus on the end game and to make you stronger. If you have the will power, determination you can overcome almost anything. Having a great network and love around you is the icing on the cake. However, never think you can’t do it alone because you can. I have met some many awesome people over the 20+ years I have lived in Florida and each one has taught me a little more and more on how to manage in Florida.

If I can leave you with anything is never stop dreaming and don’t allow a few woes stop you from living out your dreams.
