Understanding Your Journey

Welcome to my blog, My goal is to share my thoughts and personal experiences to motivate, inspire or encourage someone.

Back Story - almost 8 years ago my then 22 year old daughter was killed in a DUI/DWI car accident. This of course was devastating as a parent. I was unclear how I was going to mentally deal with the loss but I understood my walk was my walk and my journey was my journey. Although I had been the rock for my family, I was now in a situation that I could not be that walk for my other children, my husband or family. I indeed this time needed someone to lean on, someone to cry to, someone to vent too and someone to listen to me. I then realize that the very thing that was taboo in a black family was my only hope. That was therapy. I went to therapy and I can say without it I would not be sane to share my story with anyone with confidence, pose or with a smile.

The very thing that was left to break me actually made me stronger. It made me realize who was there for me and who wasn't. He was going to walk with me through the journey and who was going to forsake me. But in the end, I understood only God could truly walk with me while I face my pain. You see often we look for others to go along with us on Journeys they're not qualified for, not equipped for, or just don't belong walking with you. The journeys we walk are not always easy, not always something others would understand but for sure it belongs to you.

Therefore, to make this short - make sure you understand what type of journey you're on and be sure to determine if the journey is meant for you to walk alone for a while. If you take others with you ensure they're equipped to walk with you because you need loyalty commitment and strong people on some journey's.

Until next time....
