Hello all,
we will encode all clips resulting from shooting from 1st April 2026 on with the MP4 H.265/HEVC codec instead of the old MP4 H.264 codec.
The reason is that H.265/HEVC provides better quality at lower bit-rates resulting in smaller file-sizes.
Normally this should not bring up any problems for you if you are playing the clip on actual hard-/software.
However if your hard-/software is very old (you could also call it: "outdated") then the clips enconded in the H.265 might not play.
In this case please download and install the free "VLC PLAYER", it will do the job and play the clips for you - see LINK.
We will mark all new clips in the description accordingly so you will know which ones have been encoded with the new H.265/HEVC codec ==> Format: MP4 H.265/HEVC
Just in case this information is missing you can consider all clips with "(04-2026)" or newer in the clip-heading to be encoded with H.265/HEVC.
