Landing a dream job can be hard.
I know, because I've been there.
In this blog post, I'm going to share with you 5 mistakes and lessons that I've learned from landing my dream job.
5 mistakes and lessons To landing my dream job:
1. Don't settle for anything less than what you want.
2. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and don't be afraid to look dumb.
3. Not building enough relationships with others
4. Use action verbs and phrases when describing past jobs in your resume or cover letter (example: "managed a team of 10 people").
5. Follow up with an email or call after applying for a job online or in person (but not more than once every week or two).
----Don't procrastinate—it's easy to put off applying for jobs until you have the perfect CV, but don't do it! Apply as soon as you can in order to get that "first impression" advantage. And make sure you're applying for jobs that are actually meant for someone with your level of experience.
-----Networking is important—you may think no one wants to talk to you or help you out because you're new on the scene, but networking is one of the best ways to get your foot in the door at a company. You never know who might recommend you for a position!
-----Be proactive—if you see a job listing that interests you, send in your resume ASAP (even if it's not the right fit). The worst they can say is no thanks! And even if they don't end up hiring you, they'll remember your name when something else comes up.
