TBW-3 The Best of Terror Monthly FREE, Live Feb15, Nightmare writers, chat and more

We've been busy over the past few weeks getting ready for releases of The Best of Terror Monthly, editing Nightmares, and getting all of our social media and other affairs in order. The Best of Terror Monthly went on sale (free) Feb 11, three days before the plethora of freebies on Valentine's Day. It's worked out fairly well so far and we've already had more downloads than our free week of What Lurks In The Deep. We decided not to put The Best of TM in the KU programs, and instead purchased our own ISBN's so that we could "go wide" with it. It's a neat thought to have a book for sale on Amazon, 16 stores from Draft2Digital, and our own Payhip store. We'll see how it goes...

I'm hearing GREAT things about the stories that are going into Nightmares! The editors have been raving. As more of the 'proofreader' of The Butchered Writers, I'm excited to get my hands on them after the first round of edits. I was told that Winona Morris' story is fantastic. If you don't know her work, she's put out a book of short stories called On Darkened Wings. If you like dark fiction types of horror, it's definitely worth your time. I'll link it at the bottom!

We're also excited to have stories from a new Splatter punk type of writer, and a couple of OG's that have made their way back to us for Nightmares! Christopher Ridge is his name and Splatterpunk is his game. Christopher has plenty of other works out there with 18 being listed under his Amazon profile. Megan Russ is back! Megan is fantastic at writing folklore horror, and has a penchant for Fantasy as well. Another name that is returning for this issue is Zachary Markely. Zachary has a knack for psychological horror in the most remarkably creepy way, leaving you wanting more. I also want to throw a shoutout to Jeffrey Caston. If you like the weird, out of the ordinary, bizarro, THIS IS YOUR GUY. His stories are imaginative and memorable. How he doesn't have a huge following yet, I have no idea.

There are plenty of writers that deserve recognition and should be on your TBR lists, I'll keep them coming over the next blog entries.

There's a Live on TikTok on Saturday Feb 15th at 7CT if you'd like to stop in and say hi to Danny and Sarah. They'll be talking about stories from our Christmas volume, who The Butchered Writers are, and answering questions. I'm sure there'll be a few other members of TBW in the comments as they go as well.

This week in chat we covered numerous topics. Did you know that the 4th most common cause of death among men is falling off of something? Crazy. We debated whether it was the elderly or just guys being dumb. I think the guys being dumb proponents won. So let me rewind how we got here...I blame Ryan! He witnessed a mobility taxi almost back over an elderly woman, causing her to fall backwards and crack her head on the concrete. My wheels started turning and I found out that on average 684k people die every year from falling...enter Sarah. She guessed that most of them were elderly people and asked "Haven't you seen those commercials- I've fallen and I can't get up?" Then a Life Alert conversation ensued. Andy decided he'll outlive us all by being the one that presses the button for the apocalypse, getting frozen, and waking up in 1,000 years under the reign of the Lizard People. I could go on, but I think you get how TBW chat works.
