The Story Behind My Musicianship
My journey in music has been shaped by more than fifteen years of performing, teaching, producing, composing, programming, and directing music in both live and studio environments. My foundation began in gospel music, but my experiences have allowed me to perform and work across a wide range of musical settings—from churches and theaters to recording sessions, private events, live productions, and professional concert stages.
I attended Berklee College of Music’s Five-Week Summer Performance Program and later continued developing my knowledge of music production, film scoring, and media production. Throughout my career, I have served as a drummer, keyboardist, bassist, music director, producer, composer, playback operator, programmer, background vocalist, and audio engineer.
I have had opportunities to perform with, open for, or contribute to productions involving Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award-winning artists, including Old Dominion, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Travis Greene, JJ Hairston, Avalon, Big Daddy Weave, Sheila Walsh, and others. I have also performed with professional event bands such as Kristen and the Noise, taught drums, piano, bass, music production, programming, film composition, and introductory audio engineering for more than five years at Guitar Center, and composed music for film and theater.
These experiences taught me that strong musicianship is about more than talent. It requires preparation, discipline, listening, adaptability, creativity, humility, and an understanding of how to serve the music. This course was created to pass those principles on to musicians who desire to grow beyond simply playing notes and become well-rounded contributors in any musical environment.
