"Photographing Professionals" with Forward Safety Training

As a photographer of professionals, it means so much to me when I get to help other people showcase their business or profession. As part of my photography blog, I will be featuring my professional clients and their brand. As well as some behind-the-scenes insight as to what style of photos I choose to capture.

I believe each client, whether a family, business, entrepreneur, or individual has distinguishing qualities that make them unique. My goal in every shoot is to highlight those characteristics.

I recently had a client who is a great example of how a person or business can be seen differently, depending on how they want to show up. Let me introduce you to Becky.

. .

Becky Mosbrucker is the owner of Forward Safety Training and is a #1 International Best Selling Author, Empowerment Coach, and Women’s Advocate for Safety.

Becky and I had a 45-minute outdoor branding shoot that captured headshots, product images, and photos to use in her marketing. What I thought was super neat about this photo shoot was capturing the different versions of the client.

.

She has a warm, engaging smile that feels inviting and comfortable, that to me, extends a sense of trust to the viewer. She also has a very serious, "back up out of my face" side that comes out when she is teaching self-defense. I loved seeing this serious side of her come out, it made me feel safer instantly. Having images she can use to convey different messages will help her show up authentically in her market. It gives potential customers a well-rounded image of who she is and what she can provide.

.

I loved featuring some of the self-defense keychains she offers. These images can be used to promote sales or feature her products on her website in addition to stock images. Using images alongside stock photos helps the customer see themselves using the product and can increase sales.

.

My goal was to capture images of her in a seemingly dangerous situation in which she was not afraid because she was prepared. In the photo on the left, she is alone in a wooded area. If someone were to come toward her they wouldn't be able to see the weapon she had in her hand because she is discreetly holding it on her keychain. In the photo on the right, there is a person approaching her from behind, but she is prepared to defend herself should she need to.

.

I think she did a great job of balancing intimidating stares of confidence with warm gestures of laughter and empowerment. Her ability to have a good time while simultaneously knowing her surroundings was fun to witness. I had a great time getting to hear her story and learning more about her mission.
