Let's Make Photography FUN!

I am so excited to release my newest family package. I have been diligently working behind the scenes at developing something unique for families. I love family photography because it is always different. Each family is so unique and I feel honored when I am asked to capture that uniqueness.

For those of you who don't know me, I want you to know that when I do things, I always do them to the best of my ability. I wouldn't say I am an overachiever or anything like that. I believe anything worth doing should be done well. I bring all of myself to each shoot and am constantly developing my skills. With this in mind, I felt something was missing in family photography. As if my stepping into the family photo scene was an opportunity to bring something new to the table.

As a mom, I really love well-composed, well-lit, candid shots of my kids. It just makes my heart so happy when I see my kids having fun. I figured I must not be the only Mama who treasures happy photos of her babies, so I combined my love of candid photography with my passion for kids to make FUN Family Photo Sessions.

FUN Sessions are exactly what it sounds like, photo sessions that are fun! Instead of photo sessions that end up being stressful.

You know how it goes sometimes, you get the kids dressed in all their coordinated outfits, have everyone's hair just right and pray they don't get dirty on the car ride. Arrive at the photo shoot and one of the kids has already drooled all over their super cute new shirt, while another kid is having a meltdown because they don't want to do pictures, they just want to play. You get out and get the kids to the photo shoot location and they just want to play with all the sticks, sand, flowers, or literally, anything they can get their hands on. I have been there and witnessed it dozens of times, but it doesn't have to be this way, it can be fun!

Since I love kids so much I tend to focus on them a lot during shoots. They are the ones that will make or break the final photos. If they aren't smiling, or worse, if they're displaying their grumpy gator face, then the pictures won't turn out as expected, and that can be super disappointing. That is why I think letting them have fun makes sense. I believe if we let kids have fun, their true personalities will come out and it will be a lot easier to capture pictures of them smiling because they won't be faking happiness. This approach also leads to a better chance of getting them to cooperate for some posed photos.

At a FUN Session, I am very involved with the kids and try to get an invitation into their world. I want to see what they see so I can capture their carefree spirit. This means I may gather images of them pretending to be an airplane, practicing their dance moves, laying in the grass, or even smelling the roses - something we should all stop to do more often. I will listen to their stories, and answer all of their questions, even the ones they repeat five times.

The final result will be different for each family, but my goal is to deliver 2-3 photos of the family together, posed and smiling, 2-3 candids of the family and the remaining of the kids just being kids. This session is fun for kids of all ages. Yes, that means I am confident in working with teenagers, they don't scare me! No kids? No problem! Fun isn't reserved for littles, grown-ups can have fun too!

To me, fun photo sessions make sense, and are more enjoyable for the whole family, especially the kiddos! If you want more info about what is included in my new FUN Family Photo Sessions you can check out the details here.
