Why you shouldn't wait to travel?

Well i’m not very good in writing long posts but this morning I was listening to a travel podcast while driving to work and a sentence really caught my attention. Why wait to travel when all the world is changing so fast everyday?

Only last year on my must visit places I had listed down a trip to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine – today, this country is inaccessible since it has become a war zone. So many times we think we have all the time in the world but like with everything in life this is not the case, because life is so short and unpredictable! Just ask yourself - what will happen in few years’ time when due to the climate change and deforestation, temperatures will increase and rain patterns in the Amazon will completely change? What will happen when the pyramids of Egypt shall lose all their volume and will no longer be standing? What will happen to the beautiful world that exists underwater when pollution, overfishing, use of dynamite for destructive fishing practices will damage all the reefs? Four years ago I was lucky to be able to see the Rhinos in Africa where I learnt that these are already endangered. Since 1970 the numbers of Rhinos dropped to 70,000 and today, around 27,990 rhinos remain in the wild, so yes, most likely the upcoming generations will not even know what a Rhino is.

Unfortunately, greed for power and money is destroying everything that this world has to offer and it is only through our voyages, photos and stories that we can showcase the beauty of the world. So never stop believing that together we can make this world a better place. It is about time that we focus on the positive side of things not just the ugly parts. Unlike to what the social media would like us to believe there is still so much beauty that can be saved.

To the person reading this - just keep in mind that out there, there is that tribe still unaware of what is happening in the world or those farmers which still earn their living by working their lands and people in Ghana collecting cocoa beans so you can eat that chocolate. So, until there is hope and things to see out there I urge you - don’t wait for when the mortgage is paid or when the kids grow up to visit that place you really want to see as tomorrow is not promised to anyone and you may one day regret all the dreams you didn’t pursue and the places you wished you have seen but never did.
