Ayumi was in her room, attending online classes. During a break, she slipped on a pair of slippers and went down to the condominium’s convenience store to buy some food.

On her way back, carrying several shopping bags, she didn’t notice the “Caution: Wet Floor” sign placed by the cleaning lady. The next moment, she slipped, and one of the straps of her slipper came loose, causing her to fall along with the bags.

When she tried to get up, her foot felt weak, and she couldn’t put any weight on it. The building’s caretaker helped her and took her to the hospital, where tests revealed a microfracture in her metatarsal.

It was the first time Ayumi had ever needed a cast. Despite the pain, she was fascinated by the whole application process and even thought the cast’s little “heel” was funny.
