Stephen King "End of Watch" 2016
Something was awakened in ward 217 of the head injury clinic. Something evil.
Brady Hartsfield, Mr. Mercedes, the perpetrator of the massacre at the community center, who killed eight innocent people and severely injured many others, lay a vegetable in the head injury clinic for five years. Doctors absolutely did not believe in his recovery. But after all these years of meaningless gaze and drooling, Brady nevertheless returned to consciousness, so that, without leaving the chamber, he would bring terror and chaos to his newfound abilities.
Retired policeman Bill Hodges, the hero of the story with Mr. Mercedes and the Finders Keepers, is now engaged in private investigations together with his partner, Holly Gibney, who delivered Brady that fatal blow to the head. Then Mr. Mercedes threatened with death not only Bill and Holly, but also their friend Jerome, his little sister, as well as thousands of spectators at the concert. But Brady returned, and his plans include not just revenge on his offenders. He wants revenge on the whole city.
