Toesies & Footsies are useful tools for exploring: Judy's magic cast on, lifted increases, using dpns or magic loop, German short rows, and 3 different 1x1 ribs. That is just the Toesies!
The Footsies grow from the Toes of the Toesies, with a foot length calculator provided so you can get the foot length needed to go with your heel. All lengths are adjustable. Add a double-short row heel designed to fit a foot, pulling up stitches, and creating a heel tab as explorations on the Footsies.
There are different Rib variations within the body of the Toesies & Footsies, or you can make them in stockinette with rib finishes. Add different colors and you can create these from leftovers!
Toesies & Footsies: Memphis Test Knit
This Test Knit is being done through YarnPond
. You do not have to sign up there, but you can.
I need a knitter for each of the variations of the Toesies & Footsies, but no one has to make a pair (unless they want to)!
I recommend that you make the basic Toesie to check your gauge. I am not concerned with getting absolute gauge, but the size chosen should be based on your actual blocked gauge. I will help with the math if needed.
For the Footsies you will need the Rib Trim Calculator file which is the download file. It also includes a sheet of conversions from inches to centimeters (0.125" to 100") and sheet which has a foot length calculator.
If we get lots of differences in gauge, I'll make a calculator for figuring size changes.
Toesies & Footsies Yarn
I am fortunate to get yarn from yarn companies, and I like luxury yarn. Anzulaprovided yarn for my samples, but we were not able to coordinate any test yarn. Do not feel you have to use the yarn I used. Use what you like, what you have access to, or whatever you have on hand. This is a Test!
Toesies & Footsies come in 7 sizes. Length is customizable.
Each size of the Footsie is customizable in length, so you can make a hybrid size. I would like to know your changes, but I don't care what they are.
There will be variations on the Toesies and the Footsie, so you can choose which one you do. The measurements I'm giving you are for the stockinette versions, with slight variations with ribs in the body.
