Iโve been on quite the journey โ from overweight, depressed, and low energy to full of energy, vitality, and feeling amazing in my body! Having experienced such a dramatic shift back in 2019, I immediately wanted to share with those who are struggling what had helped me, so I began coaching other women using what I had learned about diet, nutrition, and lifestyle that helped turn my life completely around. It brought me so much joy to share these gifts with others!
I've helped hundreds of women with reaching their weight release, health, wellness, and fitness goals!
It's truly a blessing to be able to facilitate and witness the transformations that are happening inside our courses, programs, and coaching containers.
Let me back up and share a bit more of my story, in case you donโt know it.
I grew up as a happy and active child. I participated in a variety of activities and found that I excelled in and was passionate about the arts - visual art, music, and movement. I was a competitive dancer since I was 9 years old! I was also an avid learner. Not only did I do well in school, I also researched what I was interested in and asked a lot of questions.
As an Honors student at Northeastern University, I coped with the stresses of life and school by drinking alcohol, binge eating and smoking. At one point, it all led me into a feeling of psychosis.
I reached out for help, but I felt so confused how to even articulate what I was experiencing. One of the therapists I reached out to was also confused. She told me at our first appointment, โI donโt know how to help you.โ Imagine my discouragement when someone trained to help people with their mental health told me I couldnโt be helped. I felt so defeated. I plummeted into a deep depression, often daydreaming about dying.
At one low point, I begged my sister for help, and she helped me get admitted into a program where finally I was given some tools that empowered me to feel hopeful again. Thatโs where I first learned about Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training. I went through a group training program in addition to seeing an individual DBT therapist and was so excited about what I was learning.
I was feeling much more at peace and felt like I finally had healthier ways of coping with the stresses of life. I finished school - clean and sober - and earned my BA in Sociology with a focus on public health, graduating with Honors, summa cum laude.
The year after I graduated, I went to China for a year of service teaching English. I thought I was healed, so I stopped going to therapy and reviewing my DBT skills. Adjusting to a new country where I couldn't even read or write was no joke. And I eventually returned to eating, drinking, and smoking to cope with the stress. For six years, I suffered greatly, struggling with my business, rocky and hurting relationships, and poor health - physically and mentally. Even though I was well educated, smart and talented, this was my reality.
In 2018, I really hit rock bottom. My body was fat and sick, and I was anxious and depressed again. Come February 2019, my mom recommended I read โFit For Lifeโ to help me reach my weight loss goal. The book made so much sense! Without knowing it was a thing, I went โraw veganโ overnight. I relished in eating an abundance of living, sweet, juicy fruits. I instantly felt more energized, and instantly quit smoking! I was full of energy and motivation to start moving my body again. And in a short 3 months time, I released 70 pounds!
I started to live in alignment with my passions and my dreams.
I ran 5k, then 10k races. I returned to dancing, teaching dance, and choreographed award-winning competition pieces. I went on to get my 200-hr then my 300-hr Yoga Teacher Certifications. I earned the Plant Based Nutrition Certificate from Cornell online. I even went on to get my Naturopathic Certificate from the Centre of Excellence.
I traveled the world, visiting places like Mexico, Costa Rica, Bali, Thailand, Portugal, and more.
I married the love of my life and experienced an ecstatic birth with the arrival of our sweet baby girl, Raeki.
I say this all not to self-deprecate or brag, but to share with you what's possible.
It is my fullest pleasure to have expanded my practice to include teaching and mentoring not only what I've learned to be the keys to physical health but also an enjoyable path to mental, emotional, and soulful well-being.
By incorporating intuition connection, re-alignment with True Self Conscious, DBT and NLP skills training, mindfulness, emotion regulation, stress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, the art and science of yoga and embodiment, play, nourishment, positive psychology, community support, and self-responsibility into our programs, we've found participants are likely to experience thriving health, wellness, abundance, and improved relationship with self and others.
