Gonora Sounds, a Zimbabwean family band led by blind guitarist and singer Daniel Gonora, delivers an unforgettable portrait of survival, resilience, and joy in Hard Times Never Kill. Recorded in both street performances and studio sessions, the album showcases the electrifying Sungura style, guitar-driven dance music rooted in Zimbabwean tradition and powered by raw, street-level intensity.
For years, Daniel and his son Isaac performed on the streets of Harare, building a grassroots following and amassing millions of views online. Their music and story were featured in the award-winning documentary You Can’t Hide from the Truth. Now, recorded with some of Zimbabwe’s top musicians and produced by Sungura legend Bothwell Nyamhondera, their debut album bursts with the energy and spirit of a band that never gave up.
