Imagine the scene, I’m sitting with my coach and I’m feeling overwhelmed. So much of my life feels like it’s in free fall. I seem to have no control over anything. Those are the thoughts I have racing through my head and the feelings coursing through my body. He is very calm and very direct. He suggests that it will benefit me to write down my thoughts as a way to make some sense of them.
My honest immediate reaction is one of horror! You see I’d had an English teacher some 30 years previously who had humiliated me in front of the whole class telling me I had no talent in my native language, I had no imagination she told me whereas I excelled in foreign languages. I went on to believe her words until I reached the age of 45.
Writing has now become a huge part of my life. I love how I can ask a question one day and not worry about the answer. Days later sometimes, there it is, the answer to something my brain wouldn’t let me work out analytically.
Writing is creative and releasing. Writing is a place to explore our thoughts, to confide and to celebrate. It’s a place to let off steam and wallow. Whatever you use your writing for it will always be there as a way to explore your inner world.
I’ve put together these 90 journal writing prompts for those days when you’re struggling to come up with anything to write or you’re someone who would much rather have a topic to muse and reflect on. These then are for you.
