One cup of cider too many… but she just smiled and held my hand.

Abby – It was just supposed to be cider, hayrides, and maybe a funnel cake or two. But I couldn’t help it. One sip turned into three, the bounce house was too tempting, and suddenly I was waddling through the festival in an overfilled diaper, Daddy’s eyes locked on me, disappointed but calm. That’s always worse. Because when Daddy’s quiet… it means he’s planning something. And I don’t think I’m ready for what happens when he finally stops being patient.

Daddy – She thinks I don’t notice. The way she “accidentally” lets go of my hand. The way she soaks her diapers just when we’re in the most public places. Abby wants control, by giving it up. And I’ve let her push and pout and play her little games long enough. But now it’s time to remind her: she’s not in charge. She never was. And I’m not just her Daddy. I’m the one who’s going to break her rules, rebuild her world, and teach her that being mine means there’s no such thing as innocent fun.
