The rocks on the beach are basalt lava, and have, over thousands of years of surf action, become rounded. The beach material, over the next ten years, changed.
The beach material, on the date in 2006 this image was taken, was rounded basalt lava rock. Average individual rock weight was roughly 2 pounds each. Beach material, by 2016, had changed completely to classic sands. GPS coordinates provided, within the metadata, allows one to examine the changes in beach material by using Google maps.
