Personal recommendations:

I usually put these dot-effect (halftone) on an adjustment layer and reduce the opacity to 35-60 (its 55 on the pics that u see)

I would recommend to use these dots above my quality settings that you can find in my products under name "MY CASUAL COLORING + QUALITY" (it gives the best result, but u can use ur own quality settings as well)
