Trauma Informed Peer Support Bundle
The Trauma-Informed Peer Support Bundle is designed for peers working within traditional recovery communities, behavioral health programs, and clinical mental-health systems who want to provide more conscious, compassionate, and human-centered recovery support.
Traditional models can unintentionally center what is “wrong” with a person, focusing primarily on problems, behaviors, symptoms, or diagnoses. This peer-led bundle offers a different framework. It centers the person’s humanity, needs, story, strengths, and the context surrounding their experiences.
Through a trauma-informed lens, peers learn to look beyond labels and recognize how adverse lived experiences can shape the brain, nervous system, relationships, behavior, and ability to access support. The bundle offers practical guidance for responding to hidden wounds with curiosity rather than judgment, connection rather than correction, and empowerment rather than control.
Written by Washington State Peer Support Specialist Jodie L. Knowles, Trauma Informed Peer Support Bundle shares valuable guidance from lessons learned through lived experience, recovery, and navigating systems of care, so you don’t become another learning curve. This resource supports a more conscious approach to recovery that protects dignity, honors neurodiversity, strengthens voice and choice, and helps people become active participants in their own healing.
