Cassandra Claree is the author of this impressive book. City Of Bones is the first book in The Mortal Instruments series. It is about a fifteen year old girl called Clary Fray, she thinks she lives in a normal world where demons, vampires, werewolves, etc don’t exist. Then she witnesses’ three teenagers, that no-one but she can see who happen to be Shadowhunter’s, murder someone in a club who disappears into thin air and is introduced into the Shadowhunter world.
Her mother is kidnapped by her father who she thought was dead. The Shadowhunter’s assist Clary & her best friend Simon is trying to find her mother, they are sent on a quest to retrieve the mortal cup which they can use as leverage to get her mother back. But they get betrayed by Hodge the Shadowhunter’s tutor who gives Valentine (Clary’s father) the cup and Jace (the Shadowhunter who Clary has fallen in love with). Then Clary goes on a mission to get Jace back, with the help of her mother’s best friend Luke and his werewolf pack. When they find Valentine, they manage to rescue Clary’s mother and Jace who we find out is actually Clary’s older brother, but Valentine gets away with the mortal cup. Along the way, they also make acquaintances with a Warlock, some Vampires and Werewolves. To conclude, City of Bones is a really good novel and it is worth reading.
