Lithner's Progressive Matrices (5 × 5)

The twenty 5×5 progressive matrices in this second eBook (Adult Set II) extend the vocabulary of the first volume’s 4×4 grids and then turn every dial a little further: more motion, more interplay, more places for a rule to hide in plain sight. A 5×5 matrix gives you twenty-four clues and one silence. The silence is the missing cell; the clues are the other twenty-four, each a part of the rule. You will find rotations that accelerate across a row while inner shapes counter-rotate down a column; positions that orbit in spirals or knight tours; dot counts that follow modular cycles; rings that obey frequency constraints per row or column; parity toggles that flip only on the anti-diagonal; and occasional symmetries that hold, until they don’t. Nothing here is arbitrary. Every transformation is deliberate, recoverable, and testable against the six answer options. 

What makes these challenging to solve makes them just as challenging to design as I mentioned in the first eBook. Composing a good 5×5 is a negotiation: depth versus clarity, richness versus noise. Too few channels and the answer pops; too many and the signal blurs. The work is exacting, yes, but it is also calming. balancing movements until they click is, for me, a kind of sanctuary.
