This worksheet takes students through the development of writing in Mesopotamia. Students have an opportunity to consider early pieces of archaeological material that displays a primitive form of writing for agriculture before it developed into a proper script. They also have the opportunity to write in cuneiform and engage with one of the earliest examples of literature in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
