Born in the classroom, but now it’s all grown up!
My name is Mike Hawthorne, and I work as an illustrator and educator. I'm currently an exclusive artist for Marvel, drawing everything from Deadpool to Spider-man. I also teach Anatomy at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.
This 166 page PDF is a collection of all the hand-drawn handouts from my Figure Anatomy classes. The handouts cover the entire figure, from head to foot, with important notes on the skeleton, muscle groups, and how they work together. I’ve edited the guide to flow through the figure for easy referencing.
There's also material focused on movement and structure. Just flip through the preview above to see what I mean.
This thing is a visual reference guide, so it doesn't rely on a bunch of dense written descriptions to explain the anatomy. It's more of a "show, don't tell" kind of Anatomy Guide.
This is the guide I wish I had when I was getting started in my art education!
