Hearty Winter Meals

Winter dishes. Those meals that taste best in winter time.

Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, in a village called Hot Springs, was a special place, with special people. The crisp days and sometimes freezing nights, created a good deal of memories.

Sleigh riding with the Myers brothers down Homestead Hill, stomping through the woods as the first frost covered the blanket of leaves on the forest floor and bonfires in the field as the moon reflected off the snow.

And the meals.

Some of the best cooks in the world live in, and around, kHot Springs.

I'm almost 60 now and living in Buenos Aires. When the Northern Hemisphere is buried under winter, it's in the 90s here in South America.

But any of these recipes take sme home again to that little white cottage on the hill.

I hope that some of the dishes I've collected over the years will take you back to a special place as well.
