Governance is the role and function of directing and monitoring the legal, financial and operational performance of the legal entity through a formally established and endorsed strategic and policy framework.
This Governance Kit will focus on the way that people who have been elected or appointed to a Board, act, interact and handle tensions. It will facilitate discussion to increase the confidence and skills of individual board/committee members, and a more productive use of a board/committee’s time in terms of achieving their organisation’s purpose
There are three equally important components in the governance function:
1. endorsement of a strategic and policy framework,
2. ensuring and monitoring the financial viability of the organisation, and
3. ensuring compliance or conformance with all legislative, statutory and contractual duties and obligations.
