I first designed the quilt in about 2009, demonstrated making it at a local quilt show in 2010, and then it was published as a pattern in British Patchwork and Quilting magazine in 2011.
It is fairly simple to make once you have mastered the 'partial-seam' technique. Full step-by-step diagrams are given for making the blocks so even if you have never come across a 'partial-seam' before you should have enough information to make your first couple of blocks and by the time you finish the top those partial-seams will be a breeze!
I used both rolls to complete the quilt - with enough left over for a cushion or two - by using the strips to make a piano key border as well. You could make the centre of your quilt larger by making more blocks and buying additional fabric for borders.
As shown the quilt measures about 50 inches square. Other border and colour ideas are given in the pattern.
