The Weight She Carried (Eve's Story)

is a move away from my normal writing. These are heartfelt and at times difficult to read as they are absolutely true. They are about my childhood and therefore deeply personal. Here is an Extract:

"The devastating truth is that we were not even allowed to say goodbye.

Torn from our mother’s arms — it didn’t seem right or fair.

So what if she was tearing up the floorboards of our grimy little council flat to burn for firewood? It didn’t matter to us. We were too young to care.

My sister and I didn’t want to be taken. It was the only life the pair of us had ever known. But driven instead in the middle of the night to the middle of nowhere. We were city children...."
