Seeds' Path

This story evolved from the tragic loss of a friend and having to console the young boy left behind. It is written to allow children to examine their feelings about the loss of a loved one and contemplate choices along the path of life. Though written for middle school aged children, Seeds' Path provides an excellent resource for grandparents, parents, teachers and counselors. It will assist in initiating discussions about life, death and making the right choices on the path of life. Eleven year old Marty enters the hospital room of his dying Grandpa. As Grandpa speaks, “Inside this sack are special seeds, they are for you. They will help you grow to be a strong man. Not strong of body, but strong of mind and heart. They will help guide you to become a fine adult. Because, soon I will no longer be able to share things with you". The next day Marty will begin his path without a Grandpa. Months later when Marty plants the seeds, he realizes that some have already been planted. The seeds now share wisdom and new lessons. Though only a young boy, Marty cherishes the seeds until....
