Prosopagnosia is a disorder that involves face perception, causing an inability to recognize the faces of familiar people, typically as a result of damage to the brain.
The condition is also called face blindness and causes the affected person the inability to recognize their own parents, their children, friends or even the face reflected back at them in the mirror.
What does face blindness have to do with narcissism?
Well, the trauma brought on by narcissistic abuse can cause the victim to develop a kind of emotional face blindness. While they may be able to literally "see" and recognize their physical reflection in the mirror…when they try to "see" or define their internal being…there is nothing but a deep rooted sense of loss, a devastating feeling of somehow being internally erased. This is a direct result of damage to the soul.
If that is your case, as it was mine in the past, this journal is designed to not only help you to become reacquainted with who you are at the core but also to help you achieve your truest potential as you establish a new, healthier mindset and habits!
One thing to keep in mind is the need to have patience and compassion for yourself as you embark on this journey. Emotional face blindness did not occur from one day to the next….it occurred slowly and systematically. You were being erased so slowly, that it wasn't until you went searching for yourself that you realized you couldn't even find yourself. So please, be kind to yourself on this journey!! Healing should be as constant as breathing, not a temporary process for fending off symptoms of emotional pain.
Eastern traditions of ancient India relates that there are five main causes linked to suffering and the unhappiness that it causes…..the first cause listed is NOT KNOWING YOUR TRUE IDENTITY.
It's time to put an end to that lack…it's time to find the REAL YOU!!
