Kim Kirkley, JD, MSW | Senior Travel Rights Advocate & Consultant
I help seniors travel safely, affordably, and confidently—backed by legal expertise and real-world experience across four continents.
Why I Do This Work: As both an attorney (JD, Rutgers Law) and social worker (MSW, Columbia University), I've spent my career advocating for people navigating complex systems. When I saw how airlines, booking sites, and the travel industry were systematically overcharging and underserving older travelers, I knew I had to step in.
My Background:
- Legal expertise: Understanding your rights under the Air Carrier Access Act, DOT regulations, and consumer protection laws
- Social work training: Specializing in family dynamics, accessibility needs, and advocating for vulnerable populations
- Personal travel experience: Panama, Puerto Rico, Italy, Brazil, UK, Tanzania, Kenya, and extensive U.S. travel—I understand what works (and what doesn't) for real travelers
- Solo parent perspective: I know what it's like to plan carefully, budget wisely, and make every trip count
What I Offer: I provide personalized one-on-one senior travel consultations because generic advice doesn't cut it. Your mobility needs, budget, health concerns, and travel dreams are unique—your plan should be too.
In our sessions, I help you: ✓ Navigate airline policies and request proper assistance (without getting dismissed) ✓ Find senior discounts and deals that booking sites hide ✓ Plan accessible itineraries tailored to your pace and comfort level ✓ Prepare for medical needs, language barriers, and safety concerns ✓ Stand up for your rights when airlines or hotels fall short
My Mission: Travel after 60 should feel joyful and free—not heavy and confusing. I created Senior Savvy Travel™ to give you the tools, scripts, and protection you deserve.
Whether you're planning your first international trip or your fiftieth, you don't have to figure it out alone.
Let's make your next trip easier—together.

Frequently Asked Questions
If I'm not happy with my consultation, can I get a refund?
Your satisfaction matters to me. If you're not satisfied with your consultation, please contact me within 7 days and we'll work it out. I evaluate refund requests on a case-by-case basis to ensure every client feels supported. My goal is your confidence and peace of mind—if I didn't deliver that, let's make it right.
How does appointment scheduling work?
After you complete your purchase, you'll receive two things via email:
- A Google Form to share details about your trip and what you need help with
- A scheduling link to book your consultation at a time that works for you
It's simple and takes just a few minutes to complete both steps.
Can I book more than one consultation?
Absolutely! Many clients book follow-up sessions as their travel plans evolve or when they're planning a new trip. Simply purchase another consultation session and you'll receive a new Google Form and scheduling link.
What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
Life happens! You can reschedule your consultation up to 24 hours before your scheduled time using the link in your confirmation email. If you need to reschedule with less notice, please contact me directly and we'll work something out.
How long is each consultation session?
Each consultation is 45 minutes—the perfect amount of time to dive deep into your travel plans, address your specific concerns, and create an actionable plan without feeling rushed or overwhelming.
Can I bring someone with me to the consultation?
Yes! You're welcome to invite anyone you'd like—a spouse, adult child, friend, or travel companion. Many clients find it helpful to have a family member join, especially if that person is helping with planning or will be traveling with you. Or come solo—whatever makes you most comfortable.
Do I need to prepare anything before our consultation?
After you purchase, you'll receive a Google Form asking about your destination, travel dates, budget, mobility needs, and specific concerns. The more details you share, the more personalized and valuable our time together will be. Don't worry—it's straightforward and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
What exactly will we cover in the consultation?
We'll focus on YOUR specific needs, which might include:
- Planning an accessible itinerary for your mobility level
- Finding and requesting proper airline/airport assistance
- Discovering senior discounts and money-saving strategies
- Preparing for medical needs and language barriers
- Safety planning for your destination
- Navigating airline policies and your legal rights
- Any other travel concerns keeping you up at night
This is your time—we focus on what matters most to you.
Is this consultation done by phone, video, or in person?
Consultations are conducted via video call (Zoom) or phone—whichever you're most comfortable with. Video is helpful so I can share my screen to show you websites, booking strategies, and how to use helpful tools, but phone works perfectly fine if you prefer.
I'm not tech-savvy. Will I be able to access the consultation?
Yes! If you can make a phone call, you can join our consultation. I'll send you simple instructions, and if you have any trouble, you can call me directly. I work with seniors every day who "aren't good with technology"—we'll make it work, I promise.
What if I have questions after our consultation?
You'll receive a follow-up email summarizing our conversation and action steps within 24 hours. If quick questions come up within 2 weeks of our session, you can email me and I'll do my best to help. For ongoing support or new trip planning, you're welcome to book another session.
Do you help with booking flights and hotels?
I don't book travel for you (I'm not a travel agent), but I teach you HOW to find the best deals, what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to advocate for yourself. My goal is to empower you to travel independently and confidently—not create dependency on paid services.
Can you help if I'm traveling internationally?
Absolutely! I have personal experience traveling to Panama, Puerto Rico, Italy, Brazil, UK, Tanzania, Kenya, and throughout the United States. I understand international travel logistics, cultural considerations, visa requirements, and how to stay safe abroad.
What makes your consultations different from a travel agent?
Travel agents book trips and earn commissions from hotels/airlines. I'm an attorney and social worker who advocates for YOUR best interests—not corporate partnerships. I teach you:
- Your legal rights as a traveler
- How to find deals travel agents won't mention
- How to advocate for yourself when things go wrong
- Accessible travel strategies based on YOUR needs
You're not just getting a booking—you're getting expertise, advocacy, and empowerment.
I'm on a fixed income. Is this consultation worth the investment?
If I can help you save even $100 on your trip (through senior discounts, better flight timing, avoiding unnecessary fees, or preventing costly mistakes), the consultation pays for itself. Most clients save significantly more. Plus, the strategies you learn apply to every future trip—this is a one-time investment in years of better, cheaper travel.
Do you offer consultations for family members planning travel for senior parents?
Yes! Many adult children book consultations to help plan safe, comfortable trips for their aging parents. They're welcome to join the call with their parent, or book on their behalf. I can help you understand accessibility needs, communicate with airlines about assistance, and create plans that respect your parent's independence while ensuring their safety.
Can a senior book a consultation by themselves?
Absolutely! Many of my clients are independent travelers who simply want expert guidance to make their trip easier and safer. You don't need anyone's permission or help—this is for YOU.
How soon can I book a consultation?
Typically within 3-5 business days, depending on current availability. If you have urgent travel coming up, let me know in your Google Form and I'll do my best to accommodate you sooner.
