The Scrolled Key
Samantha Ellison came to Hexham for the quiet.
A slower life. Rain-darkened streets, old stone buildings and the comforting solitude of a small Northumberland town. But one autumn evening, something in the window of an antique shop catches her eye: an unusual brass key, beautifully made and strangely difficult to forget.
It should be nothing more than an old curiosity.
Yet from the moment Samantha takes it home, the familiar world around her begins to feel subtly different. Patterns emerge where there should be none. Chance encounters feel a little too precise. And somewhere beneath the ordinary surface of things, Samantha begins to sense that the key may have found her for a reason.
But every key belongs to a lock.
And perhaps some doors are better left unopened.
